How to screenprint: Pathfinder Tshirt

Screenprinting was my first introduction to clothing, and it’s still something I come back to for a change of pace from sewing. You don’t need a full set up to get started, my first tee was printed by using a hand cut paper stencil taped to the back of a screen, no press involved!

You can burn your own screens at home or get them done at a local shop. This guide covers the basics you already have a screen burned, ink & a squeegee or an old gift card if that’s all you got.

Step 1: Load your screen with ink.

Step 2: Flood the artwork area by lightly pulling ink across the screen.

Step 3: Hold the screen firmly and squeegee the ink through your design.

Step 4: Heat cure the print using a heat gun, hair dryer, or heat press—most inks cure around 320°F (160°C), but check your ink’s label to be sure.

Step 5: Enjoy your finished T-shirt!
