The making of: ZFS Erosion Totebag
For this tote bag, I hand-dyed duck canvas which gave the fabric a unique, weathered look that reminded me of earth eroding in canyons. The natural dye creases and colour palette became the foundation for the design.
To get some inspiration, we took a hike out to the Cheltenham Badlands. It's about an hour from Toronto. This landscape not only influenced the fabric dyeing process but also shaped the name and direction of the tote bag design.
After dyeing the fabric, it was time to match thread colours and choose the right hardware for the bag's adjustable strap. Every detail had to complement the rugged, natural tones of the fabric.
With the bag finished, I snapped a few flat lays to capture the details. Then it was off to the lookbook shoot. Seeing it worn and in motion was when it all really came together!
